Japan annexed Korea in 1910. In 1919, Korean exiles established the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai. In 1932, after the Hongkou Park bombing, Japan launched retaliatory action, the provisional government was forced to move to Jiaxing and Hangzhou and other places. Among the nine places where the Provisional Government is operating in Hangzhou, three have been identified, of which No. 23 Hobeon Village was the Provisional Government Office in 1932, No. 2 Ohbok-ri, Pangyo-ro was the Provisional Government Office in 1934, and No. 41-42 was the headquarters of the Independent Party of Korea. The 3 buildings are typical Shikumen Lilong houses in the Republic of China. They are engaged in revolutionary activities in these ordinary residential areas, which are beneficial to hiding their identity.
