Zhejiang Librarys is located in University Road No.102, it was built by Tang Zhexian (Shouqian), the former governor of Zhejiang, who donated money by will. On September 1932, the library officially open for use, amount withdrawn by Cai Yuanpei, named “Zhejiang Library”.
The area of the premises on University Road is 17.13 mu, the area covered of the old building is 2683.96 square meters, it’s a two story classical Western columnar architecture, some of the part of the building has the basement, the main body is made of reinforced concrete, plane is “gong” shape which is the Chinese word. The first floor and the second floor are the hall, the left side and the right side and behind are all reading rooms and library. It draw lessons from the advantages of Western traditional architectures, and also extended use some of the formal characteristics of ancient China traditional architectures, this building is the earliest province public library building in China, well preserved, after 70 years became library for people to use, has indelible achievements for the career of Zhejiang culture educations.
Former site of Zhejiang Library Gushan Museum is located in Gushan Road No.28, West Lake Street, West Lake District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang. It constitutes with White Building, Red Building and Qingbai Mountain on the wast side of the mountain, faces south, area covered 5000 square meters. Before September 1932, Gushan Museum is the director of Zhejiang Library, now it turns to Zhejiang Library Ancient Books Department. In 2019, it was listed in the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units
