The former site of the drafting of the May 4th Constitution is located in Building 30, Yard 84, Beishan Street, Hangzhou City, bordering West Lake in the south and Baoshi Mountain in the north. The site where the May 4th Constitution was drafted was the office of Chairman Mao Zedong when he drafted the first Constitution of New China in Hangzhou. The former site is now the Beishan Street area of the "May 4th Constitution" historical data exhibition hall, which was opened to the public in 2016.
The former site consists of front yard, main building and bungalow, with a total construction area of 756 square meters. The main building and bungalow are located on a high platform and are of brick and wood structure. The main building is two stories high, with attic. The bungalow is one story high. Both buildings are sloping roofs and covered with dark gray tiles. In the northwest of the main building, there are additional rooms built later. In 2016, Hangzhou Municipal Commission of Organizational Structure approved the establishment of the "May 4th Constitution" historical data exhibition hall, with the former site of the drafting place of the "May 4th Constitution" as the main site. On December 4, 2016, the third National Constitution Day, the Museum of Historical Materials of the May 4th Constitution was completed and opened. In 2019, it was listed in the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
