Shi Liangcai (1880-1934), a famous Xiu, was originally from Jiangning, Jiangsu Province and was born in Songjiang (present-day Shanghai). At the end of the Qing Dynasty, he served as the chief writer of Shanghai Times and the general manager of "Declaration". He criticized Chiang Kai-shek's policy of "bringing peace to the outside world first" and advocated unity to resist Japan. In 1934, he was shot and killed by Kuomintang agents in Wengjiabu, Haining, Zhejiang. The tomb was built in 1936, sitting north facing south, with granite octagonal burial chambers, copper coffins inside, covered with stone carved cornices, and upturned wing angles. The five characters of the tombstone "The Tomb of Shi Liucai" are written by Zhang Taiyan. Shi Liucai's tomb is one of the best-preserved celebrity tombs by West Lake.
