Wuyue suburban altar, also known as Baijiao altar and dengyuntai, was built in the first year of Later Liang Longde (921) and was the place where the Wuyue king Qian Yun sacrificed to the heavens. The existing ruins are roughly divided into three floors, covering an area of about 2,000 square meters, and scattered on the two-story platform, such as Linghua Cave, Dengyun Cave, Zhutianmiao Cave, Ganlu Well, Afternoon Dream Bed, and nearly ten cliff inscriptions. Among them, the discovery of the inscription engraved by the king of Wuyue Qian Yun to build the suburban altar confirms the record of the Wuyue suburban altar in the literature. The site provides rare physical historical materials for the study of the historical development of the Wuyue Kingdom and its suburban ritual system.
